The British Invasion was just that.
An invasion !
The difference between this invasion and others – primarily music. The other abnormality was the musicians were carrying American music back to America. Strange days indeed . ‘Most peculiar Mama …’
The Zombies were one of the British Bands who invaded America. Combining music from overseas with their own ‘twist’ on things. An English twist.
The original ‘ wave ‘ of Zombies; Rod Argent, Chris White, Colin Blunstone, Hugh Grundy, Keith Airey, Paul Atkinson and Paul Arnold joined the ‘English’ fray with songs such as ‘She’s Not There‘ and ‘Tell Her No’ in 1964 and 1965 respectively. Along with bands such as The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Animals and The Who – The Zombies rattled the cages of both American and British teenagers. It was a time that altered popular music forever. It was a time that drove parents nuts !
The difference between the other ‘invaders’ and The Zombies was the latter were ahead of their time. They just didn’t realize it until years later. In fact – record companies , the fans and everyone except for Clive Davis did not get The Zombies album ‘ Odessey and Oracle ‘ before it was almost too late.
Please listen below to my chat with bassist Chris White. He pretty much explains everything Zombie-related !
Stay tuned for some new tunes from The Zombies!
