Rick Keene Music Scene – Legendary Singer / Songwriter Garland Jeffreys Talks ‘Retirement’

Some people are just ground-breakers …

Garland Jeffreys is one of ‘those’ people. Following in the footsteps of his dear friend Lou Reed; Garland took chances when most shied away from controversy.

Adding poignant anti- racist lyrics to cutting edge music – Garland was not afraid to speak his mind. Folks such as Bruce Springsteen heralded Garland as a go-to man for inspiration.

Please listen below to my chat with Garland about his ‘retirement’, baseball and racism today among other things.

Edwin Brownell – ‘Classical’ Rock Part One

Edwin Orion Brownell is no ordinary pianist …

Classically-raised, classically -trained and a connoisseur of music. The guy exudes passion and love for music done right. Whether he is performing at Place des Arts or before a dozen seniors – Edwin is a pure entertainer.

Please listen to part one of my interview as Edwin explains the beginnings of a musical adventure far from complete. A trip where the next stop is May 4th at Salle Claude – Leveille.

Sylvain Sylvain – A Romp Through The Past

Sylvain Sylvain is coming to Montreal on the 11th of March to Ile Motore. He is part of a double bill which sees him opening up for former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock.

The pair’s bands, arguably, two of the biggest ingredients of Punk Rock history. The New York Dolls preceding the Sex Pistols in on and offstage behavior. You think the Stones were bad boys …?

Please listen ( and excuse the audio quality ) to Sylvain Sylvain explain a lot. Face it – he does have some explaining to do …
