Rick Keene Music Scene -I Dont Like Spiders and Snakes But That Ain’t What it Takes to Love Cecile Doo Kingue !

Cecile Doo Kingue is ready …

Ready for what?

Her first appearance at The Jazz Festival under her own name with her own trio.

Pretty cool as this ‘road traveler’ has enhanced her level of performance to an entire different level. Songwriting is one thing she accomplished a while ago. Playing non stop since the release of her last album has created almost perfection. Something musicians spend a lifetime never achieving or else – hunger would disappear.

Please listen below to my chat with Cecile. Have some bug spray close by !

Rick Keene Music Scene – Corey Diabo Talks National Aboriginal Day; June 21st Cabot Square

Corey Diabo is not your average guitar player.

Traditionally – a Rock n Roll fan and soon later; a Blues guru of sorts. Corey hooked up with his pal Jonas Tomalty and in almost 20 years – all Hell broke loose. That fire – burning intensely to this day.

Please listen below as Corey discusses his involvement in National Aboriginal Day, his thoughts on guitar players and that one time ( in band camp?) – he opened for Van Halen and jammed backstage with Eddie Van Halen

Corey? What’s Up?

Guitarist Cameron Mizell – Filling Up The ‘Negative Spaces’. Part Two

A Blues Saxophone player once told the tale of playing alongside legendary harp player James Cotton in Chicago.

th-13

On stage, during a tune, the saxophonist leaned over and asked Cotton how he was doing. The band was tight and judging by the reaction of the crowd, the groove was happening.

Cotton spoke into his ear two words which altered the Sax player’s life in music;

Empty Spaces.

Guitarist Cameron Mizell takes those words and elevates them into the stratosphere in his new album; Negative Spaces.

Imagining other worlds within the empty spaces as the origins of magical and inspiring notes. A level of conscientiousness both grounded and otherworldly. A record worthy of critical and mass praise from musical souls.

Please listen to Part Two as Cameron completes a journey into the world of

Negative Spaces.

Brian Greenway of April Wine fame has lent his talents and so has Sylvain Daigle – Montreal’s premiere Bass player who has worked with Ron Carter and Victor Wooten.

Three coaches who have had success and know what to pass on to the ‘ students’ at The League of Rock Montreal.

Jesse Jack – Montreal’s Next ‘Massive Attraction’ …?

He’s young, he’s talented, he has a great voice and the ladies love him …

What could possibly go wrong?

JesseJackLive-460x460

In the entertainment business, especially the music business – a lot can derail a career. Bad management, alcohol, drugs – there are many poor decisions which can easily place someone out of work and ( God forbid) on the streets.

It ain’t pretty out there, no matter how hard or talented an artist may be – careers don’t always work out.

Jesse Jack, a native West Islander knows well. Fifteen years in the circuit fronting many bands and genres have taught him the patience and wisdom needed to give himself a shot. An opportunity to finally release a solo career and see what happens.

Timing is everything. Timing is essential within music …

Please listen to a few tracks and hear Jesse’s thoughts on the new EP as well as music in general.
