Lights, many cameras and lots of action titillated the audience on night one of Disney On Ice’s nine show run at the Bell Center.

Disney has always been about making the world a better place no matter the age of the observer. Young and old alike come alive inside with the sights and sounds of a Disney movie. Place those images and music on skates – suddenly Disney movies are alive and ‘on your lap’.

Movement is the key both with the on ice segments (portraying different movies and characters) as well as the transitional moments which seamlessly blend into one another. Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Goofy are your hosts as they provide banter and giggles between the set and personnel changes. Whether you are a kid or an adult, just the appearance of the latter iconic characters brings a smile to your face and heart. The video screen (which provides the backdrop to the intros and themes of the different movies) is worth the price of admission alone.

A sense of wonderment is in the air as the choreography, the music and the lightshows engulf the crowd. Caught up in the magnitude of it all – it is easy to forget all these characters are on skates. A world class team of figure skaters ( click here ) from around the world make hearts jump and eyes spin. In true Disney form, each character is near the boards, waving and greeting the numerous children in attendance when their characters are not singing or part of on ice dialogue. It is family friendly and if you look up ‘family friendly’ in the dictionary; Walt Disney’s photo should come up.
