It isn’t often you have a keyboard player who played on Whitney Houston’s first album and then spent thirty -three years with The Steve Miller Band as a member of the ‘backing band’.
The four Wooten Brothers (Regi, Roy, Joseph and Victor) taught everyone (including seasoned musicians in the crowd) how do it right. How to do it. Jazz. Funk. Soul. R&B. Blues. Each taking turns with their chosen instrument for the evening. Each taking turns with jaw- dropping solos.
Every great band in the history of music are great because they have chemistry and magic once they start playing together. The Wooten Brothers grew up together. They played music together from a young age. The word ‘tight’ in the dictionary has their photo beside it.
Loving what you do for a living is a plus. Loving the people you work with is a bonus. Loving your brothers is something that is even more profound. The banter on stage transfers into the collective sound. Looks and nuances, feel and timing and humor. The Wooten Brothers never missed a beat in all three categories, and they carried the music further than most people’s imaginations.
There was a time in music when auto -tune, transferring files and over analyzing final cuts was nonexistent. The one take studio recordings transferred seamlessly to stages globally. The Wooten Brothers come from those times, and everyone in the music industry could learn a thing or two from them. That way – no live show or tour will ever be cancelled due to low ticket sales.
