Garland Jeffreys Talks Lou Reed, Bo Diddley and His Love of Music.

Garland Jeffreys is ‘still here ‘ …

Not only is he still here, his recent performances and latest album are among the best he has ever done ( or close to it).

The seventy three year old native of Brooklyn, N.Y. has been around the block. Been there and done so much in the music business. Whether cementing his friendship with Lou Reed, joining Bruce Springsteen on stage or educating the masses through poignant racial lyrics – Garland Jeffreys is a survivor.

Please listen below to part one of my chat with Garland preceding his upcoming Montreal show May 5th at Club Soda.

As always, Garland will be accompanied on stage by a handpicked group of accomplished musicians: Mark Bosch on guitar (Ian Hunter, Carole King), Brian Stanley on bass (Bryan Adams, Mike Scott / The Waterboys), Charly Roth on keyboards (Dennis Leary, Suzanne Vega, Edgar Winter) and Tom Curiano on drums (Dana Fuchs, Phil Roy, Jon DeRosa).

Hear some tracks off the new album; 14 Steps to Harlem.
